New S1 Players transition rugby activity evening on Wednesday 11th August at 6pm. The session will take place at Orkney RFC from 6pm - 8pm. Players will receive information on the following seasons programme including, training schedules, fixtures, possible tour in the spring, and commitment levels required.

Pattie has just become the overall Northern Isles Strongest Man, winning Orkney’s Strongest Man for the 2nd year and being the first Orcadian to win the overall championship. He also won 5 of the 6 events and tied in first place for the last event.
Well done Pattie!
Cwiff & Mathew Byers came equal 3rd after Davie Cumming fae Shetland and Ben Cross put on a good show after no training for these events and only deciding to take part on Wed!

Please see the message below regarding an invitation to a pretty big 7's Tournament at the end of May next year. They need a response this week in principle. Is there a squad of 10 senior players willing to discuss this with me or Derek?
"Just a brief note to confirm our Sevens is the last Sunday in May,
2011(29th)
with the Bank Holiday on the Monday. We are hoping to have a weekend
festival of
rugby that weekend with the womens 7's on the Saturday followed by ours on
Sunday. We are on a magnificent site overlooking North Wales and our club is
near to the famous Royal Liverpool(Hoylake) Golf Club. I would like 4 teams from north of the border to come down and wrest
the
trophy from Sale Sharks who have won the trophy for last 3 years. As I
mentioned, Glasgow Hawks come down every year along with GHK. If a team from
your Club can come down, that would be fantastic.
I could promise you a great weekend and several clubs have already committed
to
the event, including Glasgow, Sale, North Wales Exiles(won 3 Sevens
tournaments
last year) and Samurai 7(the last 2 teams are travelling over from the
Heineken
7's in Amsterdam the previous week).

Training continues twice a week and it would be good if as many folk as possible turned out. It is time for the cobwebs to be blown off. The next two weeks will be as follows so bring boots AND trainers:-
Tuesday 20th Touch Rugby with fitness and ball skill drills inter-mingled. Finish with 20 minute run round Golf Club.
Thursday 22nd Run out to Scapa Beach from club then some circuits and ball skills when out there.
Tuesday 27th Touch Rugby with fitness and ball skill drills inter-mingled. Finish with 30 minute run round Bloomfield.
Thursday 29th Wideford Hill run then tarmac sprints from building to first corner while up there.
Please mind on that the Stromness Shopping Weeks Sevens is on this Saturday coming. There are already a couple of teams from the Stromness area so the rest of Orkney could do with putting in some more.

Beast- the cricket was excellent. Rugby Club tied the 'pros' down to a gettable 127 in their 30 but fell short by a whisker in the thrilling run-chase.
Highlight of the day was Gary 'The Cat' Coltherd scampering about in the field pouching catches that mere mortals could only ever dream about taking.
Goose's innings also deserves a mention - cautious in the early stages, then expansive before being skittled to a freak ball that the bowler actually aimed at the stumps. 'Out second ball, duck' fails to convey what a roller coaster ride it was.

Strength & Conditioning training will now move to tuesday and thursday nights as of tomorrow night. Due to pre-season beginning it is time to consolidate training sessions to get maximum numbers. Training is open to all players from Under 16 upwards.
Ensure that you get along to make sure that you are in good condition for the start of the season. Well done to all players that have committed to the Strenght & Conditioning programme over the past thirteen weeks.
Players who have the time and energy to do extra sessions on top of the Tuesday and Thursday nights should speak to me or Garry Burton. Some ideas are, swimming, sprints and SAQ work as previous weeks on track, Strengh & Conditioning free weights programme as initial programme. Remember to keep up the flexibility work!
