Caledonia North Under 18 Division Picky - Saturday 14th September 2013 Final Score: Orkney 86, Shetland 0 Orkney under 18 Rugby Team played Shetland last Saturday on the Picky Centre Pitch that was in an immaculate condition. This turned out to be a taster for Rugby supporters with the first team game with Ellon coming later. This being Shetland's first season of league rugby at this level it was hoped that the home squad’s greater experience would be a factor. No competition against Shetland is taken lightly and this was impressed on the team during the warm up.

Caledonia North Under 16 League Match Report Invergordon: Saturday 7th September 2013 Orkney RFC U16s 87 – Stornoway RFC U16s 7 A squad of only 15 boys travelled down to Invergordon, for their first Caledonia League game of the season, against Stornoway. This was listed as a home game for Orkney but due to travel arrangements they had to meet half way. After a brief warm-up, Stornoway got the game underway with a kick. Straight from the start, Orkney dominated and within 10 minutes gone, Orkney had scored 3 tries all coming from Orkney's pace man Sam Croy, only one of which was converted. Orkney carried on with very good team play throughout the first half, with 6 tries being scored, created from good counter rucking from the forward pack, and also organised moves from the backs. Unfortunately, Orkney RFC lost 40-24 against Strathmore in a tough opening league match in Forfar today, despite leading 14-24 at half time.
The U16s faired better, scoring an impressive 87-7 victory over Stornoway U16s "at home" in Invergordon. Both teams travelled to Ross Sutherland to fulfil their Caledonia North Under 16 fixture. On Sunday 1st of September Orkney under 18 rugby team played the first league game of the season against Moray Rugby Club. With no pitch available in Kirkwall, Dounby kindly agreed to allow the use of the school pitch. The game was played in atrocious conditions with heavy rain and a gale force cross wind. Orkney fielded a quite young side with ten of the squad playing at this level for the first time. Orkney RFC travel down to Forfar this weekend to play Strathmore RFC in their first match of RBS Caledonia Regional League Division 1.
The match kicks-off at 12:30 at Inchmacoble - if you're in the area why not go along and show your support, it's always appreciated!
