Kinross Away
23rd September 06
ORKNEY 22, KINROSS 39
Orkney travelled away last weekend with Kinross kindly accommadating an 11.30am kick off to enable Orkney to get home on Saturday evening. The game was a well fought affair with Kinross having the Lions share of the forward play, driving mauls were key to their success on the day, Orkneys back line managed to get two well worked tries (Adam Towrie) in reply to Kinross forwards scoring efforts.
After some good attacking play Orkney Managed to send Erland Drever through the middle of a ruck and make 20 yards to score 10 minutes before half time. James Linklater Jnr converted a penalty just before half time to take the score to 22 - 27.
Unfortunately the second half was dominated by the Kinross forwards attacking, some very good defence held them at bay for a while but the pressure was too great and although Orkney managed to counter attack several times they were unable to turn this into points.
Kinross managed a further three tries to take the full time score to 22
- 39 in Kinross favour.
As ever James Linklater Jnr kicking was very good, claiming 2 out of 3 conversions, man of the match on the day was Edward russell (rambo) with some excellent tackling.
