Orkney couldn't have got off to a better start, after scoring twice in the first 7 minutes to go 14 points up before the visitors had even realised they were off the boat. Veteran Rodney Spence got the first one and Roger Hall got the second.
This seemed to spur Alloa into action and they fought back well, putting a number of phases together and driving Orkney back into their own half against a strong head wind. The game was being broken up by continuous infringement on the ground from both teams and the ref made it clear that any more and the cards would come out. This opened the game up a bit for both teams and made for a much better game to both play and watch. Orkney regained the impetus and managed to get back onto the front foot scoring a further 2 trys through Al Watson and Kevin Spence. Both teams finished the first half with 14 men after Andy McGill and the Alloa openside were binned for a touch of handbags at the back of a scrum.
In the second half Orkney played much better rugby against the wind, controlling the game very well and managing to keep the pace up, which was what the Alloa team were struggling with. Trys came from Glen McLellan, Al Watson(3), Andy McGill James Linklater and Kevin Spence with James Linklater doing the business with the boot to convert a number of them against the very strong wind. Alloa got on the score sheet with a try from their big prop after a scrum 5 metres out.
Final score Orkney 65, Alloa 7.
Man of the match went to a delighted Neil Work, who had been outstanding this season so far and who donned the Pink Dress with pride for the rest of the evening!
