The 1st XV continued their winning ways this weekend racking up 90 points against a struggling Fife Southern side, who lost a number of players to Grangemouth in the off season. Orkney scored 14 tries in all, 10 of which were converted. Try scorers were Andy McGill, Al Watson (3), Glen McLellan (2), Garry Burton, James Linklater (3 + 10 conversions), Kevin Sinclair (2), Rob Thomson and Scott Anderton.
Orkney struggled to get some structure into their game for the first half, due to the very open nature of the game, often trying to play more of a 7's style of game, when the ball should have been set up with more control. However, as the game progressed and the home side began to tire from the constant defence, Orkney began to get more and more possession, dominating the second half completely. There were a number of good performances in the game with Raymond Moodie making a welcome return to the 1 st XV and showing up very well both in attack and defence. Scott Anderton also had a great game at stand off in his last match for the club before going to Uni where he'll be hopping to continue this form for his new club Grangemouth – good luck Scott. Kevin Pepper was all over the place yet again, always first to the breakdown and to cover back when needed. Again, however, it was the in-form Garry Burton who shown and deservedly picked up man of the match for the 2nd game running.
