The 1st XV continued on their rich vein of form this weekend with a 61 - 0 win over Mackie Academy at Picky in their first home game of the season. Orkney started very strongly scoring 42 of their points in the first half. It took them a good 25 minutes into the 2nd half to gain control again with some sloppy, lazy play allowing the visitors back into the game. A few stern words from the Captain and a bit more of a direct approach from the players and Orkney managed to gain control again, eventually running out winners by 61 points to nil. The try scorers were: Glen McLellan - 3,
Al Watson - 2, Roger Hall - 1,
Kevin Sinclair - 1,
Stewart Spence - 1 and
Adam Towrie - 1 with James Linklater slotting 8 conversions. Man of the match this week was Captain, Glen McLellan.
Next weekend, Orkney RFC travel to another old adversary, RAF Lossiemouth, expecting a very tough game. The kick off is to be confirmed and the team will be announced on Tuesday night.
