Club Awards Night 2026

The Annual Orkney RFC Awards Night Presentation will be held at the Rugby Club on Friday 17th June at 17:30 - First awards presented at 6:00pm sharp!
Ticket Prices: Over 18s - £10; Under 18s - FREE

All sections of the club are invited: Rookies & Minis; all youth age groups boys & girls; 2nds & Internal; Dragons and 1st XV.

It would also be great to have as many parents come along as possible to see the youngsters getting their rewards! Sponsors & Spectators very welcome!

SCAA Community Awareness Day

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance will be hosting several community events this weekend to raise awareness of SCAA and their operations in Orkney.

The public are invited to attend any of these events and there will be limited amounts of branded merchandise available at each event.

Friday 27th: 6pm at Cromarty Hall – St Margaret’s Hope
Saturday 28th: 10am till 4pm at (Orkney Harbours Office) Kiln Corner – Kirkwall
Sunday 29th: 10am at Burray Community Hall – Burray
Sunday 29th: 3pm at Deerness Distillery - Deerness

Michael Hanratty from SCAA:

“Orkney is a key operational area for SCAA, with over 220 missions taking place there in the last six years. We want to interact with as many Orcadians as possible to share the story of SCAA and to thank those that have raised funds.

I would love it if you at able to make it along to one of these events, however the Saturday event in Kirkwall is the first of its kind for SCAA and we want this to be as successful as possible, at this event we will have a raffle, children’s activities, information stand and a merchandise stand with our mascot Nevis hoping to make an appearance.

All of these events are free and the Kirkwall event is a drop in event.”

Freya Laurenson produced a huge moment—turning the ball over on Leith’s try line before making a powerful run.
She linked with Cady Denoon, who made excellent metres, setting up Ealasaid Nicleoid to open the scoring.

John Hawgood

We at Orkney Rugby Football Club are saddened to hear of the passing of ex-Club President John Hawgood.

John was a stalwart of the club and a very hard competitor on the field. He played rugby at a very high standard and loved the game. John basically invented the round the corner place kick (previously, penalties were toe pocked).

John played for both Northampton and Bath, where he was captain for a time.

Our thoughts are with Joy at this sad time, he will be dearly missed.

His funeral takes place at 12:00 noon on Thursday 19 March from the John Corse funeral home to the Evie cemetery.

Clubhouse open from 13:30 on Saturday 7 & 14 Mar for 6 Nations

The clubhouse will be open from 13:30 for the Six Nations games on Saturday, 7 & 14 March.

On “Super Saturday” 14 March, Isla will be cooking up a feed at the club.

So why not come along and have something to eat while you enjoy the final afternoon of Six Nations rugby - all for a small, or even better, a LARGE donation!

The Dragons made the journey south to face Lismore RFC in their latest Women’s National Plate fixture, building on the momentum and lessons taken from the previous week’s contest against Lenzie Women.

Lismore, playing on home soil, proved clinical when opportunities presented themselves. From the outset, the match was physical, with both sides committed in contact. The Dragons worked hard to establish territory, with early carries from Skye Taylor setting the tone and the forward pack fronting up to the challenge.
