Tennent's Women's North League
Lerwick, Sunday 7th October 2018 Shetland Women 5, Orkney Dragons 5 Orkney Dragons took on Shetland Women in Lerwick this Sunday in the Tennant’s Women’s North League. To describe the weather as challenging would be an understatement as conditions verged on diabolical at times. The high winds and torrential rain were set to dictate the style of play for both teams. Orkney had travelled with their new training tops sponsored by WB Sutherlands, which some of the ladies chose to wear under their strips to protect them from the worst of the weather, while the fresh legs on the bench were kept cosy in the new sub jackets sponsored by Highland Park. Both are most welcome additions to the kit this season.  *** UPDATE ***
Draw was held and winners have been contacted. Winners as follows: 2 bottles Orkney Beer - Bale Bottle Rose Wine - A Cameron £20 - M Clark, Shetland £20 - Jenny Russell £100 - Scott Slater £200 - Allana Bell Scotland tickets, flights & hotel - Mark Groundwater Well done to all who sold and bought tickets it all goes towards travel costs for all sections of the club and just over £3500 raised —————————————————- After the game today we will be doing the draw for our annual raffle in the clubhouse. Could everyone who is still to return their tickets please do so as soon as possible. First prize is a trip to Murrayfield to see the Scotland v Wales six nations game, to include tickets, flight and accommodation. Various other prizes including £200 and £100. If you haven't purchased your raffle tickets yet there are still some available!

Banff, Saturday 29th September 2018 Banff RFC 10, Orkney Dragons 39 Orkney Dragons made their first away trip of the Tennent’s Women’s North League to Banff RFC. On a sunny but blustery day at Duff House Gardens the Dragons were keen to show improvements from their last game against Inverness Craig Dunain. It was clear from the outset that Banff, bolstered by players from their neighbouring teams Peterhead and Fraserburgh, were going to be tougher opposition than in previous encounters. Stacey Tualasea opened the scoring after a well timed pop from Orkney 9 Charlene Nicol and it wasn’t long before she was over the white wash again for her second try built from a sustained Orkney forwards attack. |
