Season 2024-25 Memberships & Fixture Card

The Senior, Junior and Social membership forms have been updated for the new season and the new fixture card is now available to download in PDF format.

Please note the changes in membership fees (anyone paying by standing order is asked to make sure it is up to date):

Senior Playing Member (1st / 2nd / Ladies) - £100
Junior Player: 1st Child - £30, Additional Children - £15
Student Player (Over 18 & in full time education) - £30
Social member (non-playing) - £40

Players / parents are reminded that they must also update their SCRUMS registration in addition to completing a membership form as well as paying membership fees before players are eligible to play rugby.
Also, please ensure that any EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS in the SCRUMS system are up to date

Five Orkney RFC Youth teams represented this weekend 7-9-24

Our youth teams are ready to represent the club away this weekend!

• Our newly formed U14 Girls squad are away to Lochaber in their first official league fixture.

• Playing for Caithness U16s against Dundee RFC this weekend we have: Katherine Baillie, Alaina Wishart, Dana Nicolson and Alissa Omand.

• Cailynn Williamson, Emma Muir and Anne Smith kick off their first U18 appearances for Caithness against Cambuslang RFC (away).

• The U18s are on the road before supporting the U16 boys away!

Having 5 different age groups/sections representing this weekend is a result of the hard work and dedication of the players and coaches - the future of ORFC is looking bright!

Exciting News: Warm Up Wednesday is Launching!

We're thrilled to announce the launch of ‘Warm Up Wednesday’, and we can't wait to welcome all our youth players to the club before training.

The rugby club will be open from 3:30pm and it's the perfect way to kick off the evening! Grab a snack and enjoy a game of pool, or a have quick chat with your coaches and fellow players. It's a great chance to bond, build team spirit, and get in the right mindset before training starts.

A quiet space will be available to support your studies. Whether you need a quiet space to finish up homework, want some help with a tricky subject, or just want to get ahead, this is your time to focus and get things done

We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

Six Nations 2025 AWAY Tickets Application

Club members are invited to apply for 2025 Guinness Six Nations AWAY game tickets v France & England.

You will need an online ticketing account with Scottish Rugby in order to apply.

Please note that the club's allocation is based on the number of tickets that members apply for - THERE ARE NO "SPARE TICKETS". So, "If you don't ask now, you won't get later!"

DEADLINE for entries is Sunday 22 September

New posts for the ‘Hup pitch

As the club continues to grow, some weekends there could be up to 7 different teams playing at home!

Thanks to the hard work of club members and sponsorship from local businesses, we are delighted that new rugby posts have now been installed at the St Margaret’s Hope School and we now have an additional pitch for our growing club!

The new posts have been made by Scottish Sea Farms and were delivered by The Garrett Brothers. Local businesses and club members/coaches were at hand yesterday to help with installing them ready for the first rugby game being played on them this weekend.

Thank you Erlend Wood, Silas Cox, Andrew Thomson, Steve Kolthammer and to everyone else involved!

Level 1 Coaching Course 18-8-24

John Cairns will be taking a level 1 course for new or novice coaches at ORFC on Sunday the 18th of August, from 10am to 4pm

There is currently a desperate lack of coaches at certain age groups within the club and a real chance that some sections could fold because of it.

The club would like all coaches to complete this course ahead of the new season & will cover the costs for those involved.

AUTUMN INTERNATIONALS 2024 & SIX NATIONS 2025

Hi folks, this is a reminder for anyone still to pay for Autumn International tickets needs to do so before 1 August,
If you no longer want them, please let Olga Burton know ASAP at [email protected] so they can be reallocated within the club, otherwise they will be automatically returned to the SRU for general sale.

BBC Alba appearance results in surprise gift for the Orkney Dragons

A chance viewing of the BBC Alba programme “Thar na Loidhne / Crossing the Line” resulted in a surprise gift of four magnificent hand crafted Maeshowe Dragons for Orkney RFC’s Womens team!

Bridge of Earn man, Richard Patrick had been teaching his son Robin to weld and they made the dragons as test pieces.

Laser cut from steel to the exact outline of the carving on the tomb and hand finished, Richard had intended to mount them on the fence of their house but is now moving home and decided they would no longer be needed.

After seeing the Orkney Dragons host the Stornoway Ladies on TV, he thought, “Where better for them to end up?” and contacted Dragons captain, Emma Staunton, to see if she would like them as a donation to the club.

The offer was very gratefully accepted and Richard was able to hand over the pieces to Emma on a trip to Orkney to deliver a boat.

Huge thanks to Robin & Richard, the Maeshowe Dragons will soon take pride of place in the clubhouse!
