Livingston kicked to get the game underway, they were keen not to give the visitors any leeway and Orkney found it hard to get settled into the game to start with, this allowing Livingston to get to Orkney’s try line. They put up a strong defense and managed to turn over the ball and send it well down in Livingstons half.Orkney held them in their own half with a lot of good ball play and a strong link between the forward pack and the backs, this played off in the 12th minute with a try and conversion for Orkney.
With the first points on the board they got settled into the game and realized that Orkney had the stronger forward pack and started to find a small weakness in Livingston’s defense and got the second points from a maul of the lineout. The home side found it hard to defend at their touchline this gave Orkney their third try and conversion just at the end of the first half bringing the score to 0-21 to Orkney. With Orkney kicking to start the second half. Livingston showed the game was not over yet.The Orkney were very lucky not to get a player yellow carded with giving away four penalties in succession. The game was stopped for a couple of minutes to allow Livingston to attend to one of their injured players. This gave Orkney time to get reset and stop giving away penalties. After the restart Orkney managed to get the ball out of the scrum and out to their right wing who ran down nearly the length of the pitch to get the first points in the second half in the 50th minute bringing the score to 0-28. Orkney showed their higher fitness levels later in the second half with them putting another three tries over the line and bringing the score to 0-47 to Orkney at the final whistle.
