BT Women's North League Bught Park, Inverness - Saturday 7th October Inverness Craig Dunain Women 20, Orkney Women 5 After a delay in travel it was straight off of the bus for a quick warm up and into the game for the dragons. Inverness started quickly, capitalising on the still pale, slightly groggy Orkney side, scoring the first try of the match. For the home side it was using there strong forwards to bolder through Orkney' s defence who for some, were playing out of their usual positions. After two more tries from Inverness it was half time and Orkney were visibly frustrated for not playing to their full potential. Saturday 7th October saw around 80 Primary 4 to Primary 7 boys and girls play in the Kirkwall Mini Tournament at Picky. While the conditions maybe weren't ideal for the players, they never really let it dampen their spirits with 16 matches in total being played. Primary 4 and 5 League was won by West Greens and the Primary 6 and 7 League was won by the East.
The rest of the results are in the two pic's along with the Player's Player and Coaches Player. Well done to the Players, Referee's (Ian Rushbrook, Stewart Spence & Al Watson in reserve), Coaches, Food Providers & servers, all of the supporters, strip sponsors, the Pickaquoy Centre and the helpers for setting up and dismantling the tournament. BT National League Division 3 NEW ANNIESLAND, Saturday 7th October 2017 GLASGOW ACCIES 64, ORKNEY 12 64-12 sounds like a hammering for Orkney Rugby Club today and, in some senses of the phrase, it was, but it seemed far from that for those of us on the touchline during the match. There can be no doubt our boys lost to very fit and well coached opponents but they played with a commitment and courage of which Orkney can be proud. Tomorrow night Mon 9 Oct 7pm start, there will be a players meeting in the Orkney RFC club house.
It is to discuss where we go as a club in the next 2-3 years and the committee has requested as many senior players as possible (both present & past) attend. Please pass the word. There's rugby happenning in Kirkwall on Saturday. Come along and see the next generation....... K.O. at 10:15am Pickaquoy Centre Pitch
If you're near Bught Park, Inverness or New Anniesland, Glasgow this Saturday and don't go along to cheer on the teams, this will happen to you!...
... so if you are away south, please come along and show your support for either women's or men's teams:
Below are the dates for internal matches this season 2017/2018 with 1pm kick offs (they can also be found on the club calendar & fixture page):
I thought then we could have one game a month in 2018 again with 1pm kick offs and these are the suggested dates:
Comments welcome but in the absence of any required changes to the above schedule please pass this note on to your friends and family who may be interested in playing on all or some of these dates Once I have a note of the referees for each fixture we will update that information on the Club’s website, Calendar & social media.
