Mini / Rookie Rugby

Our current coaching teams cover three sections, West, Kirkwall & East, with a number of players travelling in from the isles.

The mini sections have now expanded to include Rookies, which covers the P1 to P3 age groups, giving the youngsters a taste of the rugby regime before joining the mini sections from P4 to P7. 


West
The West coaching team in Dounby comprises Kevin Pepper, Steve Kolthammer and Darren McGee

Usual Coaching times (may vary):
  • West Rookies - Meet at the Dounby School on a Sunday from 11:00 to 12:00
  • West Minis - Meet at the Dounby School on a Sunday from 11:00 to 12:30.

Kirkwall
The coaching contacts in Kirkwall are Brian Lanni & Donna Wilson

Usual Coaching times (may vary):
  • Kirkwall Minis - Meet at the Orkney Rugby Clubhouse on a Sunday from 10:00 to 11:00
  • Kirkwall Rookies - Meet at the Orkney Rugby Clubhouse / Picky centre on a Saturday from 10:00 to 11:30

East
The coaching team in the East comprises Douglas Montgomery, Andrew Thomson, Ivan Houston, Rory Robinson, Chris Woolham & James Thorburn

The training location will be at Holm football pitch until Christmas and move to "Burrayfield" after that - please check the What's On or Social media for latest info.

Usual Coaching times (may vary):
  • East Rookies - Meet on a Sunday from 10:30 to 11:15
  • East Minis - Meet on a Sunday from 10:30 to 11:30.
