Under 16 boys to share in Trophy honours

UPDATE ON SALTIRE ENERGY BOY'S U16/U15 CALEDONIA YOUTH PLATE FINAL

Unfortunately, due to logistical difficulties experienced by clubs and the impending exam period for players, the twice delayed final will not go ahead.

It has been the decision from the SRU that Orkney and Strathmore will share the title of U15/16 Plate finalists.

The team will be presented with the trophy at ORFC on Wednesday 17 April at 17:45 and anyone wishing to go along is very welcome!

2nd XV head to Skye on 27 April for return Cup fixture

The second annual Orkney Photographic Challenge Trophy match between Skye RUFC & Orkney RFC 2nd XV takes place on Saturday 27 April 2024.

The game was rescheduled from February and will kick off at 3pm at Plockton High School, IV52 8TU.

We would like to thank Scottish Sea Farms and Rendall’s Competitions for their valuable support which makes games like these possible.

Match Report | Hubert Haunschmidt Memorial Cup 2024

Sat 30th March 2024 saw the long anticipated Hubert Haunschmidt Memorial Cup played for the second time with Westray hoping they could turn over last year's defeat and keep the cup north of the galt.

The game began with Bill Robertson piping both teams onto the pitch and forming two lines on pitch to have a minute's silence to reflect and remember Hubert and his contribution towards WRFC.

Westray kicked off the game and held the Ba Bas in their own 22 for a long period with some strong forward play.
The babas had the first chance of points opting for a pen kick but it was missed.

International Tickets | 2024 Autumn Nation Series applications now open

Club members are now able to apply for tickets for the 2024 Autumn Nations Series games in November.

You will need an online ticketing account with Scottish Rugby in order to apply.

Please note that the club's allocation is based on the number of tickets that members apply for - THERE ARE NO "SPARE TICKETS". So, "If you don't ask now, you won't get later!"

DEADLINE for entries is Friday 10 May.

Match Report | 1st XV v Allan Glen’s 30-3-24

With a squad badly depleted by injury and key players being unavailable, it was always going to be a tough ask for the 1st XV against Allen Glen’s, who were looking to finish the season on a high and even snatch second spot from their hosts.

After a tricky start, Orkney grew into the game and could easily have grabbed the try bonus point needed to secure runners up spot behind title winners, Preston Lodge. It wasn’t to be, but still a gutsy performance that sets things up nicely for a final game at home against Hamilton.
