BT Women's North League Banff - Saturday 28th October Banff Ladies 0, Orkney Women 72 On Saturday 28th October, the ladies played their second league game of the season away to Banff. Due to the weather issues the travel was not the best for the team however they arrived in good spirits. The game started with Orkney receiving the kick off attacking the clubhouse end of the pitch. After some good opening phases Orkney opened the scoring with a break out wide scored and converted by Amy Walker. BT National League Division 3
Hughenden, Glasgow - Saturday 28th October 2017 HILLHEAD / JORDANHILL 31, ORKNEY 25 Both sides started off slowly, for Orkney it was straight from bus to pitch so it took 15 minutes for Orkney get in the game. Both sides exchanged penalty kicks with Adam Watt plus Cameron Gray scored his 1st try of the season, converted by Adam Watt. Orkney controlled the game well and kept to their new structure which is now starting to become second nature to the players. They turned at half time still in the game. After the break Hillhead/Jordanhill started strongly and scored a couple of tries in the 3rd 1/4 of the match which caught Orkney out and put them on the back foot. On minute 65 Hillhead/Jordanhill had blown their gasket and Orkney took hold of the game scoring 2 tries in the last quarter by Scott & Craig Rendall and both converted by Adam Watt. Orkney squandered 2 potential tries due to small errors but there were more positives to take away from the match than negatives. So now this coming Saturday's match at home on the centre pitch at the Picky against Haddington is more than ever a must win game for Orkney RFC. Training this week is Tues at the Club on grass & at KGS on 3G both starting at 6:00pm. Here's your Orkney RFC First XV to face Hillhead / Jordanhill in Glasgow tomorrow at 11am:

North Inch, Perth - Saturday 21st October 2017 PERTHSHIRE 22, ORKNEY 19 Another great first half by Orkney, our structure worked well and we starved Perthshire of any good ball and what good ball they had was negated by the Orkney aggressive line speed which Perthshire could not cope with. Perthshire were pretty one dimensional in their play which did not pressure Orkney at all in the first half. The first 25 mins was played in the middle third of the pitch until Perth put pressure on the Orkney line but they did not cross, Orkney were penalised for offside and Perthshire converted the penalty. This was just what Orkney needed to raise the tempo and they became embedded in the Perth 22, this resulted in 2 penalties being converted by Danny Bain, which ended the 1st half and Orkney led 6-3.
Tonight's women's training will be 6-7:30 at the riding centre due to the weather.

Pickaquoy Infield - Saturday 14th October Orkney RFC 68, Dalziel RFC 5 Orkney RFC were needing to turn their season around and build over the next 4 weeks to get at least 16 points or more to push them up the table of National 3. The tension was on all the faces of the squad even though they tried to hide it, it was there because we knew we had to put a performance together no matter how good or indifferent it could be to ensure 4 as a minimum and then build from there to get a BP to make it a 5 pt game. Orkney as always started strong and put Dalziel under huge pressure for the first 15 minutes, as per normal for the season, Orkney were embedded on Dalziel 22 without putting points on the board, but eventually the resilient Dalziel’s line was broken by Robbie Firth then converted by Danny Bain. Once the defensive line had been broken Orkney remembered where the try line was and started to build on their early pressure. |
