Orkney girls in action in Banchory 26-11-22

On Saturday 26 November, four girls of the youth section travelled to Deeside Rugby Club in Banchory to take part in the Caledonia North Girls Evolution Series.

They joined with players of teams all over the region for a development day, joining forces with the Shetland girls on the pitch, and bonding further on the ferry back sharing the perks of island life.

ORFC would like to thanks Northlink for their ongoing support for our travelling players.

On Saturday 26th November 2022 Orkney Rugby senior men’s team were in Aberdeen for their latest league fixture.

The opposition on the day unbeaten league leaders Gordonians.

Travel for the game was via Northlink ferry to Aberdeen. Northlink being great long-term supporters of the club through their community sponsorship scheme.

Bruce is back in town!

Ex-Orkney Development Officer Bruce Ruthven will be back in the county from Thursday 1st until Sunday 4th December! He will be holding coaching sessions with every level of the club throughout the four days.

Bruce, who has most recently been working as a full time professional coach with Super Six team Southern Knights, is very much looking forward to coming back to Orkney for a few days.

He has been analysing footage of both senior teams and will be using this to provide help for the way forward.

On Saturday the 19th day of November a squad of intrepid rugby aficionados headed off North of the Galt to find and challenge the rugby men of Westray.

The team, who were to become known as the Barbarians were Captained by Martin Harper, boarded the ferry somewhat lighter in man power than expected (was it the weather was poor or the legendary reputation of isle men??)

Youth Rugby Report | U13/14s v Lochaber 13-11-22

On Sunday 13 November 2022, Orkney RFC welcomed Lochaber RFC for games at U14 level at the Pickaquoy Centre Pitch.

Lochaber travelled with 13 players in a mixed squad of U13/14 players. Given the size of our squads, Orkney fielded mixed U13/14 teams and loaned players so 15 a side games were possible.

We even had a shoutout during commentary!

If you’ve been inspired to take up rugby come to The Pickaquoy Centre today from 10am - 6pm and meet the Orkney Dragons who will be outside the upstairs gym!

Mind on and set your alarm clocks for the morn’s morning & enjoy a half time “President’s” breakfast while you watch the RWC final!

The England & Wales Autumn Nations games will also be shown at the club in the afternoon

If you’re going to be near Perth on Saturday, head to North Inch and cheer on the U16s in their cup game at 11am!

And on Sunday, the U13s & U14s are in action against Lochaber at Picky from noon - a perfect opportunity to get along and cheer them on before heading into the clubhouse to watch the Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 v N Z 🇳🇿 game at 14:15!
