On Saturday 10th December 2022 Orkney Rugby senior men’s team welcomed Royal High RFC to Pickaquoy for the latest fixture of this season’s league campaign.

This was the return fixture from the opening game of the season in Edinburgh where Orkney ran out convincing winners with a try bonus point in balmy 17-degree autumnal sun.

The next instalment of the Internal setup saw North of the Galt vs South of the Galt, which took place before the 1st xv game on the Picky Centre pitch.

It was a chilly day with a fresh breeze from the North and for good measure some wintery showers thrown in too. It certainly was not a day to be out on the wing.

What better way to round off a day’s rugby with a Curry in the Clubhouse!

Following on from the Internal “North v Sooth o’ the Galt” and 1st XV v Royal High RFC games, a family Curry night will take place from 17:30-19:00.

Prices are £10 for adults and £5 for kids including a drink.
Tokens are available to buy behind the bar and anyone interested is encouraged to buy them in advance of the evening so numbers can be estimated.

On Sunday the 4th of December, Orkney RFC welcomed Caithness RFC for games at Under 14 level at the Pickaquoy Centre Pitch. We had a squad of 30 on the day so the boys were split into a red team and a yellow team to give them a 30 minute 15 a side game each against Caithness.

Internal Rugby & Curry Night - North v Sooth of The Galt - 10 Dec 2022

There will be an Internal Rugby game at Picky on Saturday 10 December at 11:45 between players from “North of the Galt” v those from “South of the Galt” followed by a Curry Night.

For those of you that don’t know where the Galt is…

A) Thank you for volunteering to be water boy, clean the kits and run the lines!

B) It’s a navigational buoy at the north end of Shapinsay

Here are your Orkney RFC squads for the weekend!

Please come along and cheer the teams on if you can, your support is very welcome!

This weekend will be a celebration fundraiser in memory of Doddie Weir in aid of MND research, beginning with the Dragons v Shetland at 11:30 on Saturday.

All spectators are encouraged to wear any DoddieAid shirts /snoods / headbands etc or tartan they may have as a mark of respect for the great man.

The 1st XV host Perthshire at 13:30 on Saturday while the U14s and U16s take on Caithness on Sunday from noon.

The Club Raffle draw will be made at the club at 17:30 on Saturday and anyone still to return tickets / money is asked to do so ASAP, thanks!
