Under 16 Rugby
Thurso, Sunday 23rd September 2018
Caithness U16s 55, Orkney U16s 19

The first third started in light rain. Caithness opened the scoring within the first 5 minutes. They then followed up with 2 more tries, Orkney defended hard but Caithness managed to break them down.

At the beginning of the second third the rain had stopped and the sky had cleared up. A beautiful cross field kick from Ewan Stevenson, after a quick penalty, landed in the goal zone and was brilliantly followed up by Findley Cooper. Caithness responded by scoring 2 more. Tom Mcarthur ran through the opposition line with a mazey run and secured a try by diving over the head of the Caithness full back in the corner of the pitch. To round off the second third Caithness scored a sixth try.

Caithness dominated the final third and scored another 3 tries. Kieran Barclay finished off the game with another Orkney try. Jacob Heale and Tom Mcarthur each converted a try.

Derby Day this Saturday as Caithness head for Picky

13/9/2018

Picture
With Caithness RFC gaining promotion to National League Division 3 this season, their visit to Orkney on Saturday will see the first derby between the clubs at National level in almost 14 years, when both sides were in the old National Division 4.

The most recent Caledonia league game at Picky in 2014 resulted in a 21-3 win for Orkney, so the 1st XV will be hoping for more of the same this weekend.
The game kicks-off at 1pm, so please come along and show your support for the boys.

Meanwhile the under-14 & 16 sides are returning to Invergordon again this Saturday, this time to play Stornoway with Ross Sutherland RFC acting as a neutral venue.
The games will kick off around 12 - 12:30pm depending on travel times, so if you’re in the area or passing by feel free to pop along and cheer them on!
