Vacancy: Community Rugby Coach

Orkney Rugby Football Club are looking for a Community Rugby Coach to assist the Rugby Development Officer.

Candidates must have an interest in delivering rugby, have good communication skills, be flexible and have a positive attitude.

The role will focus on delivering high quality coaching sessions in schools, clubs and organisations to leave a lasting impact on the local community. The role is suited to someone with a passion for coaching and rugby.

Caithness RFC 2nd XV 15, Orkney RFC 2nd XV 17

With both sides having a number of players who hadn’t regularly played, it was agreed to play four twenty-minute quarters.

Caithness took the south-easterly wind advantage for the first quarter, which kept the majority of play pushed into Orkney’s half.

An early penalty against Orkney inside their twenty-two saw Caithness take a try in the corner. The home team failed to convert and the opening score settled at 5-0

Summer Fundraising - Help Wanted!

As well as the Tens Tournament on Saturday 20 August, there are three big events coming up to help raise some much needed funds for the club.

We are asking for volunteers from adults, U16, U18s + parents of minis and U14s to help with the following:

Gates at the Dounby Show (11 Aug)
County Show fundraising tent (13 Aug)
Blue Door week (22-27 Aug)

Dounby Show Shifts:

08:00 - 10:00 (covered)
10:00 - 12:00 (covered)
12:00 - 14:00 (covered)
14:00 - 16:00 (covered)

County Show Shifts:

08:00 - 10:00
10:00 - 12:00 (covered)
12:00 - 14:00 (covered)
14:00 - 16:00

16:00 - 18:00 (including taking tent down)

Blue Door Shifts:

Mon 09:00 - 13:00
Tue, Thur, Fri & Sat 10:00-13:00
Sat 13:00 - 16:30

We are also seeking donations in the form of Home bakes & Bottles for the County Show tent and home bakes, raffle prizes & items to sell for the Blue Door.

The Clubrooms will be open on Monday, Wednesday & Friday nights 6.00-7.30pm - please put your donations in Changing room 2 which is the one facing you before you go through the double doors into the club. We will open at weekends nearer the time.

You can also drop off your items at the Pit Stop Garage at Hatston or at the Blue Door during opening hours from the 22nd August. All donations gratefully received.

Two Senior men’s teams in action in Thurso this weekend

The seconds are back in action this Saturday, taking on Caithness in the first leg of the Lyle Cup at 14:00 in Thurso.
The cup is played over 2 legs with the combined score deciding the winner.
