Memorial Field, Ardrossan - Saturday, 23 September 2017 ARDROSSAN ACCIES RFC 69, ORKNEY RFC 14 The first 25 minutes of the match went back and forth with both sides playing good rugby. Ardrossan playing quite an expansive game and Orkney not so much. By the 25th minute it was 7 all. Ardrossan then found their mojo stringing some good expansive rugby with results at the end of them, the Orkney defence didn't give in but were not able to counter Ardrossan's attack. The Orkney scrum was creaking most the match so no good ball was given to the Orkney 3/4's even with Danny Bain trying his hardest to get good ball out to the 3/4's. Caledonia U18 League
Falkirk RFC - Saturday September 16, 2017 Falkirk U18s 5, Orkney / Caithness U18s 41 The Orkney under 18 squad travelled down to Falkirk meeting up with the Caithness contingent of the team to play a Caledonian League game against Falkirk RFC. The game commenced with both sides showing good commitment with neither team gaining the upper hand. After 10 minutes winger Michael McGregor broke the deadlock with a try the conversion being missed. This score gave the visitors the confidence to play some attacking rugby leading to a second try by forward Ruardh McGregor; Glen Scott kicked the conversion giving a 12 point lead. BT National League Division 3 Pickaquoy Infield - Saturday, 16 September 2017 ORKNEY RFC 3, NEWTON STEWART 41 Again Orkney started brightly, we were encamped in the oppositions half for extended periods but couldn't change pressure into points, eventually we scored our only points: a 3 pt penalty. Newton Stewart answered straight away with a try, conversion missed. The first half finished 15-3 to the visitors even though the territory Orkney had.

Pickaquoy - Sunday September 10, 2017 Orkney / Caithness U18s 17, Madras U18s 17 With both Orkney and Caithness Rugby Clubs being unable to raise the numbers for a under 18 side to keep boys playing and continuing to learn the game it was agreed that they would amalgamate at this level. After a friendly encounter against Highland in Thurso last week the side played the first league game of the season against Madras RFC at Pickaquoy on Sunday. |
