On the Thursday the candidates worked through their Youth coaching course booklet which provided all the theory/background of the course. On the Friday they got a chance to test these skills on their practical elements by helping or assisting with the Rugby activity day. Thanks to all Youth coaching course candidates who did a fantastic job and helped contribute towards the youngsters enjoying the Rugby activity day. Well done to all!” This weekend's U16s Caley cup game away vs Ross Sutherland.has been called off.
Pass the word. Millbank Rd, Thurso - Sunday 9th February 2014
Caithness RFC U16s 7 - Orkney RFC U16s 38 Orkney under 16s travelled down to Thurso last Sunday. The conditions were far from perfect. The pitch itself was in a rather bad state with rain and a dodgy pitch, the game was bound to have a few scrappy moments. The boys from both sides however played a very entertaining match with a few moments of absolute brilliance. The game from the go was a very physical game and saw some great tackles being put in from Liam Thomson and Arron Gibson. Sam Croy opened the scoring showing some spectacular strength and pace to score the try. Conversion was successful by Sam Croy also. It was not long after the first try that Orkney were once again in control of possession and the ball was played again to Sam Croy who showed his kicking skills to retrieve the ball to score another try. Conversion was again successful. This made it 14 – 0 to Orkney. The Club's Real Ale Weekend was once again heralded a huge fundraising success, helping to meet the Club's travel commitments at all age groups.
The event was well supported, with over 115 folk at the Friday night quiz, 50 odd at the Saturday internationals and over 60 on Sunday for the Scotland match. The ales proved to be popular, and although not achieving the targeted 20 casks, the sales were similar to RAW2013, but the turnover was higher no doubt in part to the good numbers who stayed out to listed to Douglas Montgomery's "Rocker" band on the Saturday night, and Craig Rendall, Jamie Anderson, etc on Sunday evening.
