Sunday the 26th of February 2023 saw Orkney RFC minis welcome their Caithness RFC counterparts for the “Friends across the water” Mini Rugby tournament. Nearly seventy budding rugby players were hosted by East rugby at the St Margaret's Hope pitch. Each section of the Orkney rugby club was involved, with players from East, West, Kirkwall and Westray Minis representing Orkney. Caithness RFC attended with two P6/7 teams and one P4/5 team. The future looks bright for Orkney and Caithness rugby clubs, with some real talent on show from all sides involved. Photos: Kerry Martin, Stacey Tualasea

Women’s National Plate
Pickaquoy, Saturday 18 February 2023 Orkney Dragons 12, Strathmore Women 20 Saturday dawned to produce one of the best days for running rugby that we have had all winter. And my goodness, what a feast of running rugby was served up by the Dragons hosting the women’s team from Forfar, Strathmore, for the first time. Strathmore fielded a competent looking team, combining pace with power and experience, particularly at half back, and their control in possession early on, enabled the visitors to assert the upper hand in the initial stages of the game. This resulted in the first try of the match after sustained pressure on the Dragon’s line. Roundup of scores from today’s Under-16 cup games in Thurso:
Internal Rugby
KGS, Saturday 18th Feb 2023 Wasps 29, Reds 22 Conditions were perfect for rugby at KGS. Beautiful day, with a light Zephyr coming in from the Southwest with only light cloud cover. Shaping up for a fantastic internal match The Reds verses Wasps. It was a absorbing match of seesawing momentum, moments of individual brilliance and resilient defence. The Red kicked off and was received by wasps. Here are your teams to play this weekend: On Saturday, the 1st XV kick off at 14:30 down in Greenock, and the Wasps take on the Reds at 1pm at KGS while the Dragons host Strathmore at Picky.
