Please pass the word Last Thursday the 11th of February saw the Orkney under 15 rugby team make the trip down to Stonehaven to play Mackie Academy. With the unavailability of the Stromness Academy players, the Orkney team was made up by KGS S3 and S2 with 20 boys travelling.
Upon arriving at Mackie, conditions were dry overhead and the pitch is good condition after the recent poor weather. As Mackie Academy was on their mid term break they only had 11 players so this was a chance for the Orkney subs to get more game time with, Keir Garriock, Jamie Clouston, Keith Deerness and Lee Rendall starting for Mackie. The Orkney team was a strong line up with Jack Marwick, Glen Brough and Murray Simpson in the front row, Ronan Gray and Fraser Merriman in the second row with Glenn Brough and Glen Scott on the flank and Josh Rendall at number 8. Gregor Macleod was the sub as he was nursing an injury. Caledonia U18 Cup Pickaquoy - Saturday February 13, 2016 Orkney/Caithness U18s 5, Highland RFC U18s 82 Orkney/Caithness under 18s played Highland in the first round of the Caledonian Cup. With only three of the Caithness contingent being available the squad was stretched fortunately some of the boys who have just turned 16 and are now able to play under 18 Rugby stepped in. With Highland playing in the Presidents Conference the highest level of age group Rugby the boys expected a tough game. Due to postponements and lack of fixtures this was the teams first game for eleven weeks so lack of match practice was going to be a factor. Unfortunately Highland have been unable to travel and today's under-18 game has been called off.
Please spread the word to anybody who was planning to go along to the game Last week's rescheduled under-18 Caledonia Cup game v Highland is due to kick off this Saturday, 6th February at 12:30 on the centre pitch at Picky.

With five girls from Orkney available, most of the girls were nervous as this was their first fixture of the 2016 season and also for some of the girls it was their debut for the club. With the boat only getting in at 1pm, the girls didn't have long to get warmed up and kitted up as kick off was scheduled for 1:30pm. |
