We’re delighted to let everyone know that Orkney Rugby Club will be running The Blue Door charity shop for 5 days from Monday 7th April

If you’re having a clear-out or have any unwanted Christmas presents, we’d be hugely grateful if you could keep them aside for the club.

We’ll be getting a collection container in the next few weeks and will let you all know where it’ll be once everything is sorted – but for now, if you can hold on to items, that would be amazing.

ORFC Youth Teams Sponsored Runathon - Sat 31 Jan 2026

3-hour sponsored track run

On Saturday 31st January 2026, prior to the 1st XV game, approximately 200 youth members will take to the track at Pickaquoy in a three hour sponsored “Runathon” to raise some much needed funds for the club.

With a dozen teams competing in leagues, friendlies and festivals throughout Scotland, costs for the Orkney RFC Youth Section alone is approaching £90k annually which is only partially funded through grants and sponsorship.

Two senior games are taking place on the same day, with opposing teams visiting from Preston Lodge and Stornoway, making this a great day of fun, fundraising and rugby for ORFC.

Mother and daughter time is well spent on the pitch for six rugby lovers

We know that families love gathering and spending time with other families during December in the lead up to Christmas, but three local rugby loving mothers and daughters met up on the pitch at the end of November to spread some good will and share in a great experience.

For hosts Turriff in the Arnold Clark Women’s Caledonia North Two stage two match which they won 31-19 last Saturday, mother Lyndsey Hester and her daughter Bella Hester and mother Bobbie Jack and her daughter Isla Geddes were playing.

It was back on the road for the Orkney Dragons as they travelled to Turriff for their final match of the season.

Turriff kicked off, and despite a strong defensive effort from Orkney—with early tackles from Sandra Davey, Nikita Scollie, and Cailynn Williamson, plus turnover ball won by Nikita and Angie Shearer—it was Turriff’s No. 8 Emma Riach who crossed the line first. Isla Jack added the conversion to give the home side an early lead.

After a month-long break while the league split was finalised, the Orkney Dragons returned to action seeded in the top three.

Their first fixture was a much-anticipated home clash with Peterhead—particularly after the previous away fixture was forfeited due to travel issues. .

With both teams chasing a league title opportunity, the stage was set for a fiercely competitive afternoon.

Farewell to Rab Muir - Friday 24 October 2025

There will be an evening at the club on Friday 24 October to celebrate the life of Rab Muir who passed away in August.

Everyone is very welcome to come along to the clubhouse to pay tribute to the man, the teammate, the coach, and the friend we were all so lucky to have.

7pm for a 7:30 start.

Match Report | Orkney Dragons v Garioch 2nd XV 11-10-25

Despite a rough boat crossing and a last-minute switch to the centre pitch, the Orkney Dragons hosted Garioch 2nds in challenging conditions — damp, windy, and blustery.

This marked the Dragons’ second game of the season, with a number of new players and positional changes continuing to shape the squad.

The front row featured Cady Denoon stepping in at prop, flanked by the experienced Sandra Davey at tighthead and Skye Taylor making a strong return at hooker. The trio provided a powerful platform early on, with Cady and Sandra’s aggressive carries and Skye’s dynamic runs putting pressure on the opposition from the outset.

You could win two tickets to the Scotland v France Six Nations game plus £600 spending money, as well as various other prizes.

Also can everyone selling tickets please return them asap, preferably sold, but if you are struggling to sell them, get them returned so that others can sell/buy them.
This is a big fundraiser for the club and we need as many to be sold as possible!

The draw is on Saturday 25th October at the club after the 1st XV game against Lasswade.
