Last week the U13/14, U16 & U18 boys were presented with new rugby training jackets with money fundraised and donated over the summer.
On the 13th and 14th July Orkney Riding Club held their Open Show and WH at Swartland Farm. Sharon Wylie and the Rugby Mums organised and ran the kitchen for the event where they raised £805 for the supply of touchline Sub jackets and kit bags to the U18 and U16 sections. With Orkney missing four of their regular players due to other commitments, their forward pack had players playing in positions they have not played this season with Orkneys no8 stepping in to tighthead prop and the blind side flank moving to no8.
Orkney, Highland and Lochaber the only three clubs having had a full team regularly, are in tight competition for the top of the table, with Orkney currently in front not far before Highland.
Livingston kicked to get the game underway, they were keen not to give the visitors any leeway and Orkney found it hard to get settled into the game to start with, this allowing Livingston to get to Orkney’s try line.
Turriff opted to drop their full back and the Dragons chose to drop a forward utilising impact player availability. It took the Dragons longer than usual to settle adapting to a 14 player strategy rather than a 15 but likewise, Turriff took their time to settle also.
Good luck to all the Orkney RFC teams in action this weekend! Both senior games will be livestreamed on YouTube, with the 1st XV game being shown on Allan Glens channel: https://youtube.com/@allanglensrfc
While the 2nd XV match will be shown by Rohallion Orkney: https://youtube.com/@rohallionorkney |
