ARDROSSAN ACCIES RFC 69, ORKNEY RFC 14
The first 25 minutes of the match went back and forth with both sides playing good rugby. Ardrossan playing quite an expansive game and Orkney not so much. By the 25th minute it was 7 all.
Ardrossan then found their mojo stringing some good expansive rugby with results at the end of them, the Orkney defence didn't give in but were not able to counter Ardrossan's attack.
The Orkney scrum was creaking most the match so no good ball was given to the Orkney 3/4's even with Danny Bain trying his hardest to get good ball out to the 3/4's.
Ardrossan scored a few more tries - but not the best try of the day in the last 20 of the match. After 6 or 7 phases of play Orkney were in the oppositions' 22, they had ran out of options but not skipper Graham Poke, he looked up and saw the Ardrossan 2nd row covering left wing Ali Morgan, Graham put in a cross kick that went over the head of the Ardrossan player which Ali Morgan gratefully accepted to touch down for Orkney's second try of the day which Danny Bain gladly converted.
It was another hard day at the office for Orkney but the positive out of it all is the exposure the younger players are getting to National 3 rugby, hopefully we will turn the corner soon to get the season back on track.
Big week ahead, next Sat St Boswells RFC on the infield Picky pitch. KO TBC.
Training will be at the Club on Tues night 6 pm start, gum-shields required, full contact session, bring warm gear as well for standing about while we talk through what we are trying to achieve during a match.
