Thurso, 23rd January 2016 Orkney/Caithness U15 Girls 70, Plockton U15 Girls 20 On Saturday the 23rd the Orkney U15 Girls travelled down to Caithness to combine with the Caithness in their qualifier against Plockton. With five girls from Orkney available, most of the girls were nervous as this was their first fixture of the 2016 season and also for some of the girls it was their debut for the club. With the boat only getting in at 1pm, the girls didn't have long to get warmed up and kitted up as kick off was scheduled for 1:30pm. We arrived at the Thurso pitch at 1:40pm and the game had already started. Caithness were leading the game when it came to half time. We then brought on all five of our players at the start of the 2nd half. Straight away a try was scored by Ara Schofield who made a break from half way. Caithness were dominating the game with tries coming from various players. A strong defence was well executed by Shannon Pasotti, Holly Johnston and Rebekka Firth. Half way through the game Ara saw the opportunity and broke through the Plockton defence yet again and went for a try between the posts, scoring again after the tap and pass. There were 10 minutes to go and Plockton had made a break to the line but Rebecca Braddock slowed the player down and brought her to deck, Caithness still were controlling the game with only a short time left, Shannon turned over the ball and made a break down the whole pitch scoring between the posts. The last part of play saw Ara once again receiving a well timed pass, breaking free to score the final try of the match. She also attempted the conversion but was unable to get it over the bar. The final whistle went and the score came up too 70-20 to Caithness/Orkney.
