We had a successful day at the County Show, not only by selling copies of the 50th Anniversary Book, but through other key fund raising activities and selling Club raffle tickets – all of which gave Club funds a good boost, and many of the Go Go Olive figures sporting ORFC colours sold well too.
Later on in the day the Club was REALLY busy after the Parish Cup final and that too gave Club funds a further boost.
Stall volunteers – Can you spare a few hours on Show day to work on the stall, all welcome players/ former players/ social members/ players parents etc etc etc, ‘ Many hands make fur light work , ya ken’. If you can at all help please contact Scott Rendall, Paige Archibald or Brian Lanni and let them know (contact details here). Please, please, please , pretty please……………
Come down to the club house 2pm on Saturday 8th June and join in our inaugural fist match, then get those glad rags on as we celebrate with a dinner and dance at night.
Tickets are £20 and can be bought at Age Orkney on Victoria Street.
Orkney eased to a win in the 52nd Orkney Rugby Sevens this afternoon, winning a hard-fought final against Peebles.
The weather was kind to the popular event — a cold wind but the sun was shining — which attracted a large crowd.
Sixteen sides took to the field on the day — down on the expected 19 — with just two travelling sides — losing finalists Peebles and semi-finalists on their 30th consecutive Orkney Sevens appearance, Grangemouth.
Orkney player of the tournament Stephen MacPhail, Alex Kansour, Matt Jackson and James Linklater saw Orkney retain their title, winning 26-12 to leave the home side and their fans delighted. (Report courtesy of The Orcadian)
The other winners on the day were Orkney Dragons - Women's Trophy; Eastionians - Pail; Auld Bulls - Bowl & Ale Stars - Plate. For a full list of results, visit the Sevens Page
