Elsewhere, the Exporters secured the Plate, defeating last year’s Bowl winners, Neeps and Tatties 14-10 in a close fought final. The Bowl - contested by third placed teams - went to Trynamite, beating Holm Hobblers 26-17 and the Auld Bulls snatched the Pail from Can’t Be Wurst! Katie Allison was nominated Women's Player of the tournament, the Grangemouth Anniversary Quaich for young player of the tournament was awarded to Brogan Russell, while the Keith Hutchison Memorial Trophy for best Orkney RFC player of the tournament went to Jon Tait. Orkney RFC would like to thank Stephen Kemp from Orkney Builders (Contractor's) Ltd for their ongoing sponsorship; all the visiting teams who travelled up; all the volunteers & referees who make the day a success and the supporters for their much needed vocal support! See the Sevens Page for the lists of all previous winners. More photos from George “Rohallion” Brown UNDER 16s Well done to all three teams playing in U16 7s matches on Friday night! Some excellent rugby played from all the teams. Whites coming out on top as winners and presented with an Orkney Sevens U16 Cup donated and presented by Stewart Spence. A great night to end a superb season for these lads. Photos: Tracey Stanger ROOKIES & MINIS
Rookies had an abundance of peedie wans turn up to play some tag rugby. This number of bairns is incredible for the future of ORFC. The minis has 6 teams on paper and that increased to 7 on the morning so a bit of stress and tweaking of the fixtures, an hour and a quarter over the finish time, the tournament ended for the P4/5s. Over 50 bairns in this age group took part and it was great to see Westray making the trip over. The P6/7s ran to schedule and word on the street is the girls held their own and gave the lads a good run for their money with some great rugby. The winners on the day for both age groups were the West Greens - congratulations! Many thanks to coaches, helpers, folk who took food and anyone who reffed the matches. Without this help, the tournament would not have been possible. There was some good rugby and the bairns enjoyed themselves so it’s a win all round! Comments are closed.
