To summarise the match - Orkney were blown away by a fitter, bigger, better drilled team. Orkney tries came from birthday boy Joel and Einar. The final score was Orkney 14 Deeside 65. Had it not been for yet another outstanding performance of fullback Orrin, the Deeside score could have been far higher. This was another match where opposition coaches spoke about Orrin afterwards, who was unanimously awarded coach's player.
Players player was not decided on the day, due to the tight turnaround for Deeside to get the ferry back, and will be done at training on Wednesday along with an analysis of this game. A disappointing end to the competitive season for the U14s, but not the end of the season. Coaches expect all players back at training on Wednesday night as we have plans for friendly games before the end of the rugby year. Thank you to the following folk for all the help at short notice: Ali and Sean for refereeing, Graeme Horne for checking and booking the pitch, Ewan Mackenzie for lining it, Ellie for the catering and Willie for transporting it, Anna for her home bakes, our sponsors Northlink for accommodating Deeside RFC and Deeside RFC for making the game.
