Haddington, Saturday 27th October 2018
Haddington RFC 0, Orkney RFC 37
On Saturday 27th October, the first XV travelled to East Lothian where they were up against a stuffy Haddington side who tackled very well in the first half, restricting Orkney to two penalties from James Linklater
Half time: 0-6.
Second row Sean Cursiter scored Orkney's next try which was unconverted, the bonus point try came from a break by James Linklater who was high tackled just short of the line and a penalty try was awarded.
Orkney's final points of the day came from Captain Scott Rendall, who ignoring a three man overlap, took on two players himself and bundled them out of the way to add to his individual points tally,
Jon Tait converted to take the final score 37-0 to Orkney. A good disciplined patient display for a much needed five points on the road.
It was also great to see two special awards handed out: one to Connor Hancock who got his first cap for Orkney at the age of Seventeen years and nine days.
The other went to ex captain Graham Poke who achieved his 100th national league cap, well done to both.
Man of the match was current captain, Scott Rendall.
