Orkney started off slowly due to having 5 weeks without a game and last minute changes due to injury with 4 players needing fitness assessments. Unfortunately Orkney lost both numbers 10 & 8 and had a reshuffle of positions that was not planned.
The side gave 100% but were unable to get their game plan into operation.
Gordonians were well organised and came ready for this tough bottom half of the table clash. Both sides sparred back and forth and it was the home side whose line was crossed first to go down 7-0, then again by another 3 points due to constant infringements to be 10-0 down but then Orkney got into 4th gear and managed to get 7 points back. Orkney missed a penalty as well in the 1st half. Gordonians then scored again and their 10 had a near perfect day with the boot.
Orkney did not look as though they were going to be able to get back into the match but they managed to score a 2nd try in the 2nd 40 but Gordonians kept control of the final 20. The final score was Orkney RFC 12 - Gordonians RFC 36, a poor day at the office for the home side.
