BT Women's North League Bught Park, Inverness - Saturday 7th October Inverness Craig Dunain Women 20, Orkney Women 5 After a delay in travel it was straight off of the bus for a quick warm up and into the game for the dragons. Inverness started quickly, capitalising on the still pale, slightly groggy Orkney side, scoring the first try of the match. For the home side it was using there strong forwards to bolder through Orkney' s defence who for some, were playing out of their usual positions. After two more tries from Inverness it was half time and Orkney were visibly frustrated for not playing to their full potential. A half time talk from Captain Jo Inkster put the passion back into the Orkney Dragons who went on the pitch determined. After some fantastic tackling from Jennifer Peace in the first half she was clearly missed as Inverness again opened the scoring only after being held up on the line by Amy Walker. With no conversions Orkney were still in the game and spirits were lifted when Vice Captain Stacey Tualasea was back in her comfortable forward position.
The Orkney side came close several times and had most of the play in the Inverness half and with some strong, well contested scrums from Jennifer Scott, Lucy Flett, and Nickie Milne the ball was taken quickly by Donna Wilson who fed the ball through the backs and out to Paige Archibald who made some super runs up the wing throughout the match. With prolonged pressure and smart passing Orkney finally broke through to score their first try. Orkney constantly threatened but the game ended Inverness 20 - Orkney 5. The Orkney women would like to thank Pentland ferries, The ORFC and their supporters for their constant support and to the Coaches who always encourage the team and rally the squad. C.D.
