They were on the scoreboard with two tries in quick succession.
Orkney Dragons didn’t quite find their usual groove when coming back from a losing position but their play did improve. Rucks were being supported and backs were making up positive ground. A try by Nikita Scollie was disallowed due to being in touch which would have been a good boost. Peterhead, as expected, reacted well to this pressure and broke the Orkney defensive line. A good duo of Anglea Shearer and Tiphaine Cazenave put a stop to many Peterhead breaks. Orkney Dragons were able to claim back 5 points. Good ball carries and tackles by Stacey Tualasea forced an error in Peterhead’s defence. A loose ball was picked up by the backs which was taken into contact. A quick ball to Tiphaine who passed to supporting player Donna Wilson who was being chased to the try line securing 5 points. With a half time score of 27-5, the Dragons knew they had a lot to do. Once again Peterhead’s clinical approach, playing the Dragons at their own game, showed how far they have progressed and scored a few more. Unfortunately the game was ended by injury to an Orkney player. A 46-5 defeat is not what the Dragons hoped. However, credit to Peterhead who were the better team on the day. We thank them for their hospitality and look forward to the home fixture. Sometimes you need to lose to review the game, personal performances and have a direction to focus on in training. The Orkney Dragons will come back stronger and learn from this defeat. We must mention the Dragons Queen of the Team and new cap, Skye Taylor. She was outstanding in the front row, made some excellent tackles and strong runs. Definitely a player to watch as the season goes on. Tiphaine was backs Queen of the Team and Naomi Bremner was vote as the oppositions choice. Orkney Dragons next game is at home on 17 September 2022 D.W. Comments are closed.
