The weather was perfect, boat journey smooth, local mini buses getting everyone where they needed to be at both ends of the day, and the bairns were a credit to their clubs with excellent behaviour, gratitude and respect throughout the trip. We give thanks to the team of coaches who travelled and led the way for coaching sessions and game support throughout the day, these were Adam Baird, Kevin Pepper, Trevor Spence, Darren McGee, Steve Kolthammer, Douglas Montgomery, Erland Drever, Andrew, Thomson, Don & Stacey Tualasea. There was also volunteer help from Tanya Wood, Stuart Tait and Caroline Kent which was much appreciated and needed on the day.
The bairns had the benefit of learning from alternating coaches during drills and skills work, mixing teams and abilities together, and coming out the better for it with huge smiles, laughter and friendships across the clubs being forged for the season ahead. With the day coming to a close the teams were exhausted and ready for hotdogs, traybakes, crisps and juice, gratefully received, we give huge thanks to the generosity of hospitality and keen organisation skills by Adam and Karriz Baird, for what became a massive day of successful rugby for all. As the rugby season gets well underway we also recognise that the pre event efforts of the rugby army of volunteers and we are hopeful to lay the foundations for these future up and coming Dragons and Firsts for their prosperous Orkney Rugby careers ahead! Thanks to Lorna Thomson for the report & pulling together the photos & videos and all those who contributed! Comments are closed.
