ORKNEY RFC 15, HIGHLAND 31

Orkney RFC opened their first home National 3 match for 2017/18 fairly well.
Despite the score 31-15 to Highland the young guard put up a good account of themselves.
With the inclusion of a couple of the older heads put stability & a bit of ruggedness into the Orkney play.

Highland were on a high after defeating a National 1 side in the Cup, they showed the reason why in patches but the Orkney 1XV gave them plenty to think about both in the tight as well as out wide. Highland won the 1st 40 but Orkney the 2nd 40 due to their positive mind set of not giving in.
Full respect needs to go out the full squad of 19 who all had a part to play, some great performances from. Dean Campbell as we as a couple of the young guard Dave Bruce to name but one. Everyone to a man gave great accounts of themselves, plus this week we take more positives than negatives into next Sat match away to Gordonians in Aberdeen.

We hope to take a settled squad barring a couple of injured players but hopefully they will be fit by weeks end.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the great comments on the media pages from former players & supports for their support of the squad, the comments mean a lot to the players and myself.

Planning a head to 17 March 2018, St Patrick's Day the 1XV will be organising a Paddy's day at the club, please watch this space for info as we get closer to the date, lastly thank you to all the supporters for being on the touchline yesterday and we look forward to seeing you in 2 weeks.
