On Friday 17th October, the ORFC Rugby Activity day was taking place. This is an annual event that gives kids from P1-P7 a chance to come to play some Rugby. Despite some cold and wet weather conditions everyone involved showed lots of enthusiasm and were all trying to get involved within the activities/games throughout the day.
First of all we had the P1-3s from 10am – 12noon. 29 players got involved within the mornings session that were then split into 3 equal teams for the session. All the players got lots of experience within the game of Rugby through activities such as Ball Skills, Tag Bulldogs, Assault courses, Stadium Ball and also playing some Tag Rugby games at the end. Everyone showed a positive attitude throughout the session and was able to provide a good performance to the coaches. Thanks to all coaches involved within the mornings session – James Nicolson, Daria Byers, Brian Lanni, Willie Stewart and Fraser Macnaughton.
After lunch was the P4-7 age group from 1pm – 3pm. The 12 players that were involved in the afternoon session were split into 2 equal teams. Being the more experienced age group, players got to participate in activities such as Assault courses, 2 vs 2 stadium ball, kicking and catching, Tag Bulldogs and a Tag Rugby game at the end. All players involved showed that extra bit of experience throughout the session and showed in the Tag Rugby game that there skill level and knowledge of the game is at a very good standard considering their age. Thanks to coaches involved within the afternoons session – James Nicolson and Daria Byers.
