The ORFC mini sections finished the season with the usual tournament at the Pickaquoy playing fields on the morning of the club Sevens, a good opportunity for them to display their skills to the crowd of parents, grand-parents and friends on a lovely, sunny Spring morning. Once again St Andrews were dominant in both age groups as they have been all season.
Trophies and medals were presented by Sheila Clark, representing new jersey sponsors - Clark Opticians, to the winning teams and to the Players Player and Coaches Player from each team.
Winners of individual medals were as follows:-
P6-P7 - Players Player and Coaches Player:- St Andrews -Travis Davies and Finn Hancock, Dounby-Charlie Fulton and Finn Hancock , Kirkwall Stripes- Connor McLeod and James Daintith, Kirkwall Greens- Douglas Mackenzie and James Croy.
For the P4-P5 they were:- Dounby - Alex Scarth and Christie Mcleod, St Andrews- Jason Scott and Taylor Devitt, Kirkwall Reds - Brogan Russell and Fraser Burton, and Kirkwall Whites- David Barclay and Craig Morris.
The final event of the Minis day were the two games of Town vs Country played with 13 players per side on the bigger pitch. Both were won by the Country by scores of 3-0 but with the greater number of players and less room, the wins were by a smaller margin.
Many thanks to the referees, Ian Carse in the p6-P7 games and Bill Berry in the P4-P5 and thanks to the parents for supplying and serving the soup, sandwiches etc.
