The Orkney under 16 team travelled across the Firth to play Caithness last Sunday. With Caithness being short of numbers two of the Orkney subs agreed to play for them.
Orkney steamed into a 21 point lead inside the first ten minutes with three tries from Rhys Davies all converted by Connor Hancock. Orkney dominated the half showing some very good handling and gave Caithness very few chances to counter attack with strong tackling in defence.
Further tries came with both Glen Brough and Glen Scott crossing the line twice and Rhys Davies adding to his totall, Connor Hancock converting three of them. Caithness managed to score a unconverted try leaving the half time score at 52-5.
To save the game becoming to one sided Glen Brough and Rhys Davies donned Caithness shirts for the second half. Within five minutes the change bore fruit with Glen Brough scoring a unconverted try.
The remainder of the half allowed both teams to play some entertaining Rugby with Ryan Mooney scoring twice and Caithness replying with a further three tries.
It was a successful day for the team and the younger under 15 element in the side are learning and making a very important contribution
