U18s meeting for 2014/15 season

Dear Players and parents,

We intend to hold a short meeting at the Orkney Rugby Clubhouse at Picky at 8.30pm on Tuesday 29th April to ascertain whether there is the player numbers, desire and commitment to have an ORFC U18s side entered into the SRU National Competitions next season, 2014/15.

Our participation in these competitions must be intimated shortly and as a result of poor training numbers, a general lack of commitment from a good percentage of this past season’s U18s, the coaches , managers and Club, are asking for better from next season’s ‘crop’ of U18s.

It is envisaged to make an U18s section viable that we will need a squad of approx 24 to complete all games, ensuring that there is cover for injury and sound reason for non-appearance at training/ games/ away travel. As a result, it is important that you attend the meeting on Tuesday 29th to understand what is expected from you, as a player, next season and if you are unable to attend you must contact Bruce Ruthven (07584 167834), Les Howard (07821 646403) or myself (07879 803945), NOT BY TEXT, and let us know that you are unable to attend this important meeting, due to genuine reason, but are committed, or otherwise, to an Orkney Rugby Club U18s section next season.

It would also be desirable for as many parents to attend so that the Club, whatever the outcome from the meeting, and particularly if the unenviable decision is made to have no U18s section next season, can display that it still has an unquestionable aspiration to have an ORFC side at this level.

The Club will provide all available resources to provide an ORFC U18s side next season, it is, however, up to you, the players, to provide the will, desire and particularly the commitment to ensure that this now happens.
