On Sunday October 1st Orkney RFC under 14 and 16 teams travelled across to Thurso for the North Conference match against Caithness RFC.
First up was the under 14’s who kicked off in wet and windy conditions. Orkney opened the scoring with a handling move finished off by James Donohoe. Caithness kept hold of the ball and after a strong running line scored. In the second third Orkney scored again out wide this time Connor Macleod scoring.
The third Orkney score came from James Donohoe again from out wide. Again the Orkney handling leads to a fourth Orkney try by Jacob Heal. A good side step by Ewan Stevenson out wide which he finished off under the posts. The final Orkney try came from Connor MacLeod with another score out wide. A fine Orkney performance in poor conditions with 3 goals kicked. This shows the team are improving each week.

Orkney RFC under 16’s Kicked off after the under 14’s match again in poor conditions with the wind and rain going across the pitch.
The first Orkney try came from standoff Jamie Clouston with a dummy and score under the posts. A good Caithness offload set their only try of the game. A run from John Fuller was finished off in the corner.
Half time score 12-7 Orkney.
After the break Jamie Clouston broke down the outside wing to score his second of the day. Then there was a break from Ronan Gray who scored the try out wide, minutes later Ronan Gray scored his second try sliding in and getting the ball down over the line. John Fuller got his second with a break down the right wing stepping the fullback to score. The final try of the game came from Jamie Clouston who broke from his own 22 to run the length to score. Jamie Clouston scoring 3 conversions during the game.
A fine Orkney performance as the team wins their 3rd game in a row.
