Last Saturday (12th September 2015) was the second game of the West v Rest series on the back pitch and again it was another good game of rugby with another group of new players joining some players making a comeback to the teams after a spell away. This created different teams from those that played in the first game of the series but the high standard was maintained in a very enjoyable game which was watched by a small crowd, some of the Committee, the first XV captain and the first XV manager as well as some first XV players, and the game was well refereed by Ian Rushbrook. The score was 32-17 in favour of the Rest but it was a competitive game throughout with the Rest scores coming from Alan Corse, Ewan Dunnett, Matt Jackson and David Bruce, while Mitchell Flett, Aaron Harvie, Graham Slater and Trevor Spence scored for the West
This builds on the momentum of the last game and given the level of interest in playing from the players present and those who contacted the Club over the last week to say they were interested in playing but couldn’t make last Saturday’s game it was agreed that ORFC will try and organise three more competitive games before Christmas – possibly two involving Caithness and one involving folk from the Isles – so keep an eye on this column and the Club’s website for further details. ORFC committee were delighted with the response to this game and would encourage players to come along to any of the future games which will be advertised on this website and through all the local public channels.
