Youth Rugby Match Report | Ellon RFC v U18s 27-1-24

ORFC U18s traveled down to Ellon RFC this weekend for their next game in the Caledonia Regional Cup.

Orkney’s player numbers were helped this weekend with 6 players from Caithness and 1 player from Shetland Rugby Clubs giving them a team of 17 players.

The game kicked off at 12pm at Meadows Way Ellon. Orkney found Ellon to be a well drilled and physical team, this making Orkney defend for a lot of the first half. Their forwards did make good drives up the pitch but Ellon was strong in defense.

After the half time break Orkney had the wind in their faces, they changed the way they were playing the game, this made huge improvements in the game for them. They made good breaks down the wing but found it hard to get to the try line with Ellon’s strong defense and quick to turn over the ball. The physicality of the game started to show in the last 10 minutes of the game with Orkney struggling to keep their defence strong and Ellon quick to take advantage of this and scored the last try’s of the game.
