UNDER 16s

The Orkney team consisted of players from both under 15 and 16 groups as numbers did not allow the fielding of separate teams.

The game commenced with Orkney playing into the stiff breeze, the lack of game time was not apparent in the early stages with the team showing that the coaching sessions with Adrian Askew and Tom Hughes was time well spent
Within the first ten minutes a twelve point advantage was gained with tries from Ryan Moody and Rhys Davies Connor Hancock converting the second with a strong kick into the wind.
The game was far from one-sided Moray showing a number of attacking moves eventually scoring a deserved try. The first period continued with Orkney on top resulting in further tries by Connor Hancock, Scott Swanney after a long run by Rhys Davies, Gregor MacLeod and Glen Scott. Moray replied with a converted try leaving the half time score 34-12.

The remainder of the game was played at a good pace with both teams struggling for fitness by the conclusion. Orkney scored a further four tries with Glen Scott, Rhys Davies and Ryan Moody twice crossing the line. The final score of the game was also by Rhys who by this time was playing for Moray to even the numbers.
In scoring he completed a very exaggerated swallow dive much to the amusement of his team mates.

The final score being 63-19 was a very good start to the season, this coming Saturday the team are due to travel across the Firth to play Caithness.
