Two senior games are taking place on the same day, with opposing teams visiting from Preston Lodge and Stornoway, making this a great day of fun, fundraising and rugby for ORFC.
Both teams have had a great run in their respective pool matches so what better way to decide the league with a contest of the 2 top teams.
It has been a wet week and the Picky outfield pitches were soft to say the least. It was going to be a mucky affair. Both teams have met over the years and the matches are always very even so we knew it was going to be a hard match to win. Also can everyone selling tickets please return them asap, preferably sold, but if you are struggling to sell them, get them returned so that others can sell/buy them.
This is a big fundraiser for the club and we need as many to be sold as possible! The draw is on Saturday 25th October at the club after the 1st XV game against Lasswade. Can you return them to captains/ coaches or behind the bar please, or to Brian Lanni at 5 Viking Place, thanks! *** Deadline has passed and applications are now closed ***
This weekend our U18s and U16s squads hit the road as they travel to Elgin to face Moray RFC
Tom Hamilton and Kaelan Spence will lead out their teams as they look to put in a strong performance away from home. Both groups have put in the graft at training and are looking forward to getting stuck in on Saturday. A huge thank you to NorthLink Ferries for their sponsorship for all of Orkney contingency who are travelling South this weekend. Orkney & Caithness Unite – Viking Barbarians The North is on the march… Orkney and Caithness have joined forces to bring a band of Viking Barbarians down to Aberdeenshire to celebrate 150 years of Aberdeenshire Rugby Football Club Kitted out in brand new strips – proudly sponsored by Russell Mill of MILLR Project Services Ltd and Stephen Kemp of The Orkney Distillery – our warriors are ready to bring northern grit to the party. First up was our opening Caledonia Youth League match against Huntly. The lads were looking forward to this game and in particular, the newly moved up U18s owed Huntly for the U16s match last season where they got knocked out of the National cup.
The game kicked off just after midday where we had a 2-minute silence to remember Rab Muir, who was a big part of the club for many years, who sadly passed away last week. It’s that time of year again folks!
